I highly recommend http://www.sfwa.org/2009/08/fantasy-worldbuilding-questions/ Very in depth, even if you don't use all of them you can employ the 10%/90% rule.

I agree. I don't use generators myself, but I do find it handy to have all the links in one place so I can scroll through easily and click on anything that sounds interesting.
